Oak Park and River Forest, Illinois are home to many Cub Scout Packs, Boy Scout Troops and Venture Crews.

Scouts BSA is a year-round program for boys age 11 - 17 that was recently expanded to allow for girl as well as boy Troops. (Note that this was not a merger with Girl Scouts, which also remains strong in Oak Park).  Youth who are 10 may join if they have received the Arrow of Light Award or have finished the fifth grade.  It is a program of fun outdoor activities, peer group leadership opportunities, and a personal exploration of career, hobby and special interests, all designed to achieve the BSA's objectives of strengthening character, personal fitness, and good citizenship.

Cub Scouting is a year-round family-oriented part of the BSA program designed for boys who are in first through fifth grades (or are 7, 8, 9, and 10 years of age). Parents, leaders, and organizations work together to achieve the 10 purposes of Cub Scouting:

Venturing is a youth development program of the Boy Scouts of America for young men and women who are 14 (and have completed the eighth grade) through 20 years of age. Venturing's purpose is to provide positive experiences to help young people mature and to prepare them to become responsible and caring adults.

bsa logoOak Park, Illinois is a suburb bordering the west side of the City of Chicago in Cook County, Illinois, United States. Oak Park has easy access to downtown Chicago (the Chicago Loop) thanks to public transportation such as the Chicago 'L' Blue and Green lines, CTA buses, and Metra commuter rail. River Forest, Illinois is closely tied to the well-known neighboring community of Oak Park, Illinois. There are significant architectural designs located in River Forest such as the Winslow House by Frank Lloyd Wright. The population was 11,172 at the 2010 census.  There is one public middle school, Theodore Roosevelt Middle School (home of the bulldogs). There is no public high school in River Forest, but it shares a high school with Oak Park. River Forest is home to 2 Catholic grade schools, St. Luke's & St. Vincent's. An all girl's Catholic high school named Trinity also resides in River Forest.
